IDNtribune.com, Jakarta – Attorney General ST Burhanuddin announced that the Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas Penertiban Kawasan Hutan or Satgas PKH) has successfully reclaimed more than 5,200 hectares of forest area previously used for illegal mining operations.
“As of October 1, 2025, the Forest Area Control Task Force has managed to regain control over 5,209.29 hectares of forest land that had been illegally exploited by 39 corporate entities,” Attorney General ST Burhanuddin said in an official statement on Tuesday (October 7, 2025).
He further explained that the task force also identified an additional 5,342.58 hectares of land operating without proper authorization under the Forest Area Utilization Approval (Persetujuan Penggunaan Kawasan Hutan or PPKH). These illegally operated lands are located across Southeast Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, and North Maluku provinces.
In addition to reclaiming forest land used for illegal mining, Satgas PKH also succeeded in regaining large tracts of forest area that had been converted into illegal palm oil plantations. According to Burhanuddin, the task force has recovered a total of 3,404,522.67 hectares of such land.
Of that total, 1,507,591.9 hectares of palm oil plantations have been handed over to PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) in four phases. The remaining 1,814,632.64 hectares are currently undergoing verification before being formally transferred to the same state-owned enterprise in the next stage.
“[The task force] is in the process of verifying the remaining reclaimed areas before their official handover to PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara,” Burhanuddin stated.
The Satgas PKH was established under Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 5 of 2025 on Forest Area Regulation, which was signed by President Prabowo Subianto on January 21, 2025.
The task force’s efforts mark a significant step in restoring Indonesia’s forest integrity and enforcing environmental governance, particularly in addressing the illegal exploitation of forest land across the eastern regions of the country.
