Intan Jaya, IDNtribune – One member from the Papuan Separatists Force was killed while attacking the Security Post belonging to the 330/Tri Dharma Task Force, in the Sugapa District of the Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua Province on Tuesday (23/1/2024).

The attack on the post occurred around 09.30 to 10.11 East Indonesian Time. Around that time, the seperatists open fired at the Task Force post from the direction where a residential area was located. Which is about 200 meters away. They fired four shots. Refusing to remain silent, the Tri Dharma Knights quickly fought back and took down one member of the seperatists sucessfully. Furthermore, it was soon observed that seperatists retreated, dragging the lifeless body of it’s men who was just shot dead.

330 Task Force Commander, Infantry Major Dedy Pungky Irawanto, S.I.P., M.I.Pol, explained that Melkias Matani was the name of the seperatist that was took down by his men

“According to the information we received, the person was part of the local seperatist force in Intan Jaya. whom has carried out acts of terror, shootings and destruction of people’s houses during the last few days,” he explained.

Currently, all Law Enforcement officers (Both from the Police and Military) in Intan Jaya are on high alert in anticipation that the series of acts of terror carried out by the seperatists will continue, and are also trying to help the government restore security in the Sugapa district of the Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua Province so that local activities and government services can run smoothly and normal as usual.
