Indonesia Fields Seven Athletes, Including Two Women, in the 2024 Asian League Paragliding Accuracy Championship
IDNtribune.com – The skies above SkyLancing in Mekarsari Village, Praya Barat District, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, have come alive with color once again. From July 6-9, 2024, the Asian League Paragliding Accuracy Championship is taking place, featuring top paragliding athletes from across Asia, including a strong contingent from Indonesia.
Indonesia is fielding a team of seven pilots, including two women, according to Asgaf Umar, Chairman of the Paragliding Committee of the Indonesian Aero Sport Federation (FASI). The athletes representing Indonesia are Rira Nurhakim, Renita Dewiva, Irvan Winarya, Jordiansyah, Yuda Maisa, Rizky Maulana, and Abdurrahman Hidayat.
Asgaf Umar, who is also a member of the Donggala Regional Representative Council in Central Sulawesi, expressed high hopes for the Indonesian team. “We are sending our best athletes to this prestigious event. We hope they can enhance Indonesia’s paragliding achievements in international competitions while upholding the nation’s honor,” he stated.
Roy Rahmanto, Chairman of the 2024 Asian League Paragliding Accuracy Championship, highlighted the diverse participation in the event. “There are no less than 28 paragliding athletes from across Asia competing in this championship,” he said. Besides the host nation Indonesia, athletes hail from Thailand, Malaysia, China, Korea, Taipei, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates. The championship is organized under the banner of the Airsport Federation of Asia (AFA).
Thailand has the largest delegation with seven athletes, followed by China with four, Korea with three, and the UAE with two athletes. Malaysia has sent just one athlete to the competition.
“We hope our athletes can finish in the top five, bringing pride to our nation in this prestigious Asian paragliding event,” Roy Rahmanto added.
Notably, spectators can watch the 2024 Asian League Paragliding Accuracy Championship live at SkyLancing without any admission fee, making it an exciting and accessible event for all.
