IDNtribune, Australia – ASEAN Secretary-General, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Adelaide, Australia, from 24 to 28 August 2025.
The visit is carried out at the invitation of the Organising Chairman of the Australia-ASEAN Business Forum, Francis Wong OAM. During the forum, Dr. Kao will deliver a keynote speech at the official opening ceremony.
Throughout his visit, Dr. Kao is set to meet with several key stakeholders, including the Premier of South Australia, Hon. Peter Malinauskas MP, the Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Rt. Hon. Jane Lomax-Smith, and the Minister for Trade and Investment of South Australia, Hon. Joe Szakacs MP. He is also scheduled to engage with the ASEAN Committee in Canberra, as well as representatives from the Business Council of Australia, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the ASEAN-Australia Centre.
In addition, Dr. Kao will deliver a public lecture at the University of Adelaide under the theme “Deepening Relations as Comprehensive Strategic Partners: ASEAN and Australia.” The lecture aims to convey ASEAN’s narratives and promote greater understanding of the comprehensive strategic partnership between ASEAN and Australia.
This visit carries strategic significance in reinforcing ASEAN-Australia relations, particularly in trade and investment. Through this forum, new opportunities for cooperation are expected to be explored, with the ultimate goal of fostering sustainable and inclusive growth across the region.
