Intan Jaya, IDNtribune – The secure and peaceful environment in Intan Jaya came to a halt. As a group of Papuan Separatist caused the death of a Mobile Brigade personnel from the Cartenz Peace Task Force. This time on Saturday (20/1/24), the armed seperatists carried out an act of terror in Mamba village which caused quite a lot of losses in the community.
The acts of terror carried out by the seperatists in Intan Jaya were not only against the law enforcement personnel, but also targeted the community, both immigrants from outside the region and Indigenous Papuans (OAP). Not wanting to remain silent, the 330 Tri Dharma Task Force immediately took action to disrupt the seperatists. They went deeper into the heart of Sugapa city to secure and evacuate residents to a houses owned by one of the community leaders in Mamba village.
The seperatists also damaged facilities built by the government, and carried out terror which caused a less conducive and secure environment. The most recent was the burning of a house belonging to the local region council representative of Intan Jaya located in Mamba village, Sugapa District.
It is truly ironic, amidst the government’s efforts to equalize development and improve the welfare of the people in Intan Jaya, the seperatists continues to carry out actions that harms the community. That which includes robbery, extortion, rape and also murdering anyone who does not comply with their wishes.
Of course, this is actually one of the inhibiting factors that effect the rate of development and economic growth in order to improve the welfare of the people in the Intan Jaya District, Central Papua Province.
